We had a great Christmas. Spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with Max and family. The Friday before they spent the day with us at our house. While they were here I made Brigitte, Mason and Natalie neck cozies (filled with wheat, put in microwave to heat, then put on sore muscles.) Ahhhhh, that feels good!

Light of the World
This year for our anual Christmas page we chose
"Light of the World."
Our criteria was to use previous Christmas cards
and magazines to create our own unique interpretation of the theme. The only thing we could use the computer for was lettering.
Merry Christmas from Rick and Pat!
While you are thinking of Jesus Christ check out this wonderful movie made by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

3rd, 4th, and 5th set of quilts
Here are more quilts I made. It looks like I photographed one of them twice, and forgot to take a photo of an additional 6. I have been having lots of fun and made enough to use them for Sub-for-Santa in our church.

As I was walking yesterday I took a few photos. I love being outside. It grounds me and I feel peaceful. As you can see we are experiencing winter in the mountains and autumn in the valleys. All photos were taken during my 3 mile daily walk. Hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed my walk. Pat

The best daughters in the world
I have the most fun and creative daughter and daughters-in-law.
I've been fortunate to have them live here in Logan for 4 years.
Each is a special treasure to me!
Creative Halloween Masks
For mask making we all started off with a plain black or white mask. With ribbon, paint, jewels, glitter, and foam paper the creative minds and hands went to work. The assignment was to see who could make their mask best match their costume. Who do you think did the best?
Paul ...as a Lion with a plain black mask.
Rick ...as Ken Prince Charming
Pat...as Barbie Princess
Natalie...as a beautiful old fashioned girl
Max ...as a king
Brigitte...as Jane Austin.
Nell ...as a witch.
Nick... as a pirate
Sally ...as a beautiful daughter.
Isis..as a red ninja
Lily...as a beautiful witch
Mabel ...as Little Red Ridinghood
Phoenix...as Wonderwoman
Luke...as a bony guy & Mason ...as a bloddy karate guy
Samuel...as a baby vampire
Both Max and Samuel forgot to get a photo with their mask on. So if they look a little weired I did a cut and paste for them

Family photographs from my Halloween party
We had great fun at our annual Halloween Party. This year each family DID NOT follow a theme. Too busy with life and moving to "get it together." I was so happy to have Max, Brigitte, and Sally wear some of the costumes I had made in previous years. I am grateful for the fun we have together. Sally and family have moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho. Nick and family are moving to San Bruno, California. So, this might be our last Halloween together. Luckily Max and family are staying here. With Brigitte's mom passing we hope to spend more time with them. We made masks to go with our costumes and I will post them later. Hope you have a happy Halloween tomorrow.

The second set of six quilts ready to be tied
Each quilt is made from fabric purchased from DI for about $1.00-2.00 a yard. Every time we give one away the people are so over come with emotion they cry. Oh, how sweet!
Nell and Paul are one year older and cuter
My daughter and family now live in Idaho Falls, Idaho. I've been having each child come and stay for 2 days and one night. Both Paul and Nell got to celebrate their Birthdays here with their cousins.

Lap Quilts
Last December my depression was really driving me to become a social hermit. So, I ask a friend if she would start a quilt tying club with me. She did and away we went...my sewing machine broke so she put the first few together. I got my machine fixed and here are my first five lap quilts and baby quilt to be tied. We give them to the elderly or new mothers in our Church. Today we took two quilts to a couple . They are 92 and 89. And both cried from happiness. My life has been less depressed and more enjoyable. I am blessed.

Good luck and hope you all win!

Book of Mormon
I am very blessed. I teach an autistic boy in Primary. The reason I am blessed is because I can go to YouTube each week and find a video to show my little guy. This week it is about obedience and the importance of reading the Book of Mormon. Here are just two sources I will use on Sunday.
I declare that I' m happier and feel God's love as I read from the Book of Mormon each night before I go to bed. I am also proud to belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As I live the principles I have the blessings daily of God's love and direction.
(the title says that this video was banned...that is misinformation, it is not banned but the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has requested that we use more accurate pictures, not cartoons, to explain the gospel principles.)

Baby Quilt
Spring has finally arrived. Along with it my energy is back too! Here is a quilt I made for Samuel.
My arm is healing nicely and I'll go back to work in 1 week.
A week later Rick will return from his training in California.
Will everyone please pray for Nick, so he doesn't move permanently to the San Fransisco area. He is there for two months to see if they can afford to live there.

He Is Risen!
The Lord God, our Savior died.
Upon the cross He was crucified.
His life for us He did give,
That we may ever live.
So, on Easter we give praise
To the Savior-from the tomb He raised.
His Love for us must have been great,
To be crucified for our sake.
Pat Baugh (Barfuss) 1964
May you feel the love of our Savior, today and always. I hope you enjoy this video from Jeffery R. Holland. I love you all, Pat

Oh, my!
Our daughter-in-law, Jasmine, has been practicing one of her crafts?. She hopes to land a job doing make-up for a movie being done in Provo. This is a beard she applied to our son, Nick (age 34). He looks really scary to me. What do you think?

Matching wedding rings
On July 10, 2010 we celebrated 25 years of marriage. We designed these rings and got them in December 2010. Mine has diamonds from our old rings and Rick's has a gold band in his.
We both love them. (Photo by Rick)

My Daughter Sally had her baby on Monday March 14,2011
( e-mail message from Andrew)
Hi Everyone,
Samuel Andrew Shumway was born on Monday March 14th at 8:21 am. 8 lbs. and 21.75 inches long.
We are all doing great and enjoying our new little one. The birth was fantastic and little Samuel is welcomed and loved by all his siblings.
Luke and Mabel were at school when he was born which is why they are not in the group photo. But when they came home from school they were very excited!
Lillian, Nell, and Paul were happy to share in the moment with us.
The Labor was quick and easy
We had a lot of help from family and it was a great day!
I got to be there at home with her. I kept the kids entertained while she and Andy did all the work. Afterwards I was the one who made the food to nourish everyone and help with the clean up. The I went back on Friday because Mable came home from school with head lice she got from someone in her class. Again I made the food to nourish and did the washing but Andrew did the de-liceing because he has no hair to pick up the lice.
Best part was I got to hold Samuel for a whole hour while Sally slept.
