Happy 54th Birthday Grandpa Rick

Max and family, Nick and family and Rick and I went up to Beaver Mountain for a beautiful 55 degree spring skiing trip to celebrate Rick's birthday that was on March 1st. Jasmine and I spent some quality time in the lodged with kids when they were done skiing. Max and Nick snowboarded. Brigitte, Rick, Mason and Natalie skied. Then we went home for pizza and board games.

What a great way to spend a beautiful sunny Saturday!

Luke's letter of love!

*I've started my annual "blues" and have become somewhat a hermit, coming out only for work, tending Grandchildren, or doing church calling...thinking positive has been a challenge! Rick has been gone for most of November, December, January, and February. So, I haven't had his love and support.
*This letter from Luke really cheers me up! Thank-you to all who understand depression and help me when they can!
*Ending on a positive note, my new favorite quote is: "Music washes from the soul the dust of everyday living." so, I close and will go listen to "Sounds for Sunday" on the radio.

Phoenix out of hospital

-O.K. I'm finally getting around to expressing my feelings about Phoenix (my granddaughter) and her hospital stay. I was scared that she might not come through this bout of RSV. I have grown so in love with her. She is happy, trusting, and oh so adorable. Her courage is amazing! The love she gives is so pure.

-I am happy that she is home...I missed her very much.

-I am also amazed at her mother's love and devotion. Both Nick and Jasmine are awesome the way they help their children become involved in the things they CAN do. I am in awe with all they do to help both Phoenix and Isis feel loved and secure. The children are dependent on their parents to keep them alive. I'm am grateful for Nick and Jasmine and all they do as parents and partners!

Winter

We are having a very unusual winter...two days of rain now and the snow on the ground has turned to ice. I work on the playground every morning and the kids love it. Here is a poem I wrote when I was a kid. Just added a background. Enjoy!

2009 Calendar

(Sorry I haven't posted anything lately...I've been trying to make "facebook" work for me....it just doesn't seem to be my thing so I'll probably stick with e-mail and this blog.)

Judy and I got to spend 5 days together in Omaha in January. We decided to take a few photographs of us in simular "outfits." Then we got the idea to make a calendar...so I came home and put my creativity to work and here is the results (photos only). It is just for fun and hope you like them!

Merry Christmas from the Barfuss Family

Well I love playing around with my photos and using backgrounds from the Internet...hope you enjoy! All photos were taken at our Christmas Party! The t-shirts were designed by each family member and they were created on a life size paper shirt. I'm thinking about making my favorite up as gifts for next year's party. We'll see. Merry Christmas. Love, Pat

Family christmas Party

It was so much fun to have Nick and his family back in the Logan that we had to have a super-duper celebration for Christmas. If felt much like "the Christmas past" when our children were young! Our first activity was to decorate cookies! Here's the results...
