First Grade "Communities"

The first grades at the school I work (Wilson Elementary) are discussing Communities. The children were ask to make a building with their family as their homework this week-end. Nick, Jasmine and Isis created a Police station. Natalie, Jasmine and I created a Junior High School. With a little bit of cardboard, paint, markers and Styrofoam they are awesome. I cut and pasted a photo of their their buildings to a background. Here they are for your enjoyment!

Thanks for the Halloween photos and this latens "community" photo. Sounds like a run project. My granddaughter (more about her below) has some flash cards that are "buildings & places" so when the grandsons come to visit, we have fun putting a different building's card in on of the squares that are the design in the linoleum in our entry and dining room. Then the lines between the squares are the roads we can drive the magnet cars around to visit the school, fire station, library, etc. It is a fun indoor activity when the weather outside is cold and or wet.

I've attached a recent photo of my son John Cash and his daughter Hieron. Chris and I are legal guardians of Hieron who is 7 years old, has Cerebral Palsy, and was born 3 months early (1-1/2 lbs). He has gone back to college to try to be able to get a better paying job/career than manual labor jobs pay. The other photo is my daughter Anna Cash Hammari and her family: Husband Josh, oldest girl: Abbi Carol, oldest boy: Henri Joshua, younger girl: Eliza Jane., younger boy: Eli Caleb, and new baby boy: Luke Taas [that is Finnish, like the Hammari is Finnish].

Chris has 8 children and when we total all our grandchildren we have 23 so far. Whew! That keeps a person YOUNG at heart.

    Enjoy

    Love ya,
    Carol Ann
